ICEBAR London

Fancy a drink inside a room made entirely out of ice? The ICEBAR in London may be the answer

Halfway between Piccadilly and Oxford Circus you’ll find ICEBAR London. For those who haven’t heard of ICEBAR, it’s on Heddon Street, just off Regent Street and is a place, well, completely made out of ice.

I booked in for an evening slot, that are all forty minutes long, costing an inexpensive £13, yet the price does differ depending on time and packages. We got there early to make the most of our time there and waited in the bar (a normal one) until we all got called to queue up to have our thermal capes put on. They got our capes - attached with gloves - on ultra quick, literally throwing them on us and then we went into the ICEBAR. ICEBAR London is the only permanent bar in the UK made of ice and is kept at -5°C all year round, meaning it goes without saying that it gets rather chilly in there. I’d advise wearing your winter jumpers and coat along with the thermal cape they provide you

with. Also, as Hollie found out, it is probably best not to wear open-toe shoes or any shoes that mean you don’t wear socks.

The theme of the place changes annually and for 2014, it has a food theme to it. The bar was sculpted in the shape of an ice cream truck and there was also a huge pineapple! Other than that, I didn’t really think the room was particular theme, but it was cool nonetheless. From the walls, to the tables, bar area and even the glasses, everything is made out of ice. When we were in the ICEBAR we took loads of photos and had our complimentary drink (You can get extra drinks for a small fee), but after you’ve done that you’re time is pretty much up, but that’s not a bad thing I guess. I would recommend going to ICEBAR London if you haven’t already as Hollie and I had a great time. In my opinion, I’d say that it’s a thing you go to once, maybe twice and that’s it. It’s a different experience.
