The B Brief, the column section for my opinions on fashion news+life+culture

Thank you, Dad.

Thank you, Dad.

When I look back on things, I don’t recall many people I can say have impacted me in my life.

I never looked up to many people and when asked about my inspirations I often have no answer. With Loewe launching their new fragrance, Loewe 7 Anónimo, they asked me to think about the people who have influenced me in my life for their campaign '#thanksback'.

My dad has always been supportive of everything I do, never questioning my choices, but always being there if I’ve needed advice. It’s strange. When I ring home, I’ll often speak to my mum about the usual things and very rarely with my dad. This week I did ring my dad and we spoke for ages. It was mostly football conversations and general stuff and I think it’s because I’ve got to that age now where he need not worry about me.

I look back at my early years and have my dad to thank for my grounding, level-headiness and never taking anything for granted. We’re a working class family and I’m proud to come from a small town that

nobody has ever heard of. It’s this mentality that always pushes me to keep writing, keep striving toachieve more and never be content with where I am in life.

It’s a strange feeling. I’m of course happy with everything I’ve done so far in my life, but I want to do better. I’m never happy with what I have now and want to aim higher. Both of my parents have always been there to push me from an early age, acting as a guide to my actions and that’s probably why I find myself feeling like this.

I think without realising, he’s impacted in what I do now. Not so much so in the work I do, but my values and motivation. So I guess I have a thank you to say to my old man and the Loewe 7 Anónimo fragrance will suit him well with it being a woody and masculine fragrance along with underlining incense tones. Thank you Loewe for making me reflect on this. You can say thanks to whose influenced you here!

This post is in collaboration with Loewe, yet the love for my dad is very much my own #7LOEWEanónimo.
